Okay, so no picture right now but I just wanted to let you guys know I did not skip out on my Daily 365 yesterday. In fact, I was working on it up until 2 am.

There is a convention right around the corner and I was working on a costume (I’m a part of the costuming staff at the event) and I completed a turtleneck sweater as part of my costume for it. So, that is my contribution. No pics because it is on my dress form and I didn’t take one yet. I will post it along with my entry for today, which probably will be more costume work.

Sorry for the break in my Twitter theme and digital works.

Twitter Quote: FABLES @BillWillingham

This is my piece for day 5 of the Daily 365 challenge! Whew, only 360 days left to go. This challenge was introduced by Smashing Magazine to design something everyday for a whole year.

I have been working with typography for the past 3 designs (this one included) because honestly, I don’t know anything about it. So why not learn?

Keeping with the Twitter theme, the quote I took is from a RT @BillWillingham had posted while making slogans for his fantastic comic book series Fables. I thought it was amusing and decided to base today’s Daily on that quote.

I used Adobe Photoshop for this work.

[04] Driving Bi-Polar Museo 500

Twitter Quote: Drive Bi-Polar @madameFORCE

This piece is based off a quote from one of the people I follow @MadameFORCE. In this piece I tried to re-create the texture of asphalt for a road without using an actual photo texture. Didn’t come out quite as well as I’d like, and I should’ve just used an asphalt photo texture instead. Ah well, guess that is what these little doodles are for.

The font I’m using is Museo 500 (or Museo SLAB) by exljbris. I’m rather new to laying out typography, so it is a learning process. Any constructive critique is appreciated.

Twitter Quote: UP Movie @ericaarielle

Alright, so here is my contribution for today. I went back with the Twitter theme and decided to take a quote from a friend’s twitter this time and make a piece to it. Here I tried a new technique to create the clouds as shown by N-Sane.net. The font I am using is Impact to sort of resemble UP’s title font. The quote I took is from @ericaarielle just after she had watched the movie.

I had originally gone a different route before deciding I didn’t like it at all and scrapped it. I was originally going to make the letters U and P balloons to be in theme with the movie by using a 3D effect in Illustrator. Alas, it didn’t turn out that great. I like this a lot better.

The medium I used for this was both Illustrator and Photoshop. In Illustrator I created the balloons and blurred them out in Photoshop to kind of create that distance feel. Anyways, enjoy!

Doctor Who Wallpaper End Of Time

Aughh! I know I know, I’m a little late! But I was trying to get this updated before midnight. Alas, I’m 4 minutes late (it’s 12:04am). Oh well, I’m not asleep yet so it is STILL the 2nd. Look, I’ll even change my post date to prove it. Hah.

Anyways, I know I said my theme this month was Twitter, but I couldn’t pass this one up. Today’s work is a wallpaper for the Doctor Who End of Time Part Two episode that played yesterday and today. This is like my little nod to David Tennant and saying a fond farewell. You will be missed.

This wallpaper is sided 1024×768 but I can make them to fit your desktop if you’d like to use it. Just let me know your wallpaper size and I’ll adjust it. Anyways, enjoy.

[01] Happy New Year! Celebrating With Twitter Icons

Twitter Icons Small Preview

So for my first contribution to the Daily 365 challenge, I present some Twitter Icons! For the month of January I will be celebrating my love for Twitter. Also, I really enjoy making that blue bird. I will be using Illustrator predominantly, so I may be doing more icons or just art featuring the blue bird. As this challenge is to help me grow as a designer, I appreciate comments and constructive criticism. Tips and tricks are always appreciated too.  Anyways, enjoy! These are free for use and you can download it at the link below.

A New Art Website: Welcome!

4 Comments | This entry was posted on Dec 31 2009

Yep, this is my new site that took longer than expected to get up and running (primarily because I was too lazy to do it). But, here I am making a post to put a bit of content on this page.

Right now it is nearing midnight to start a new decade for the human race.  Yeah, 2010 is right around the corner. So odd that it has flown by so quickly.

Well, this site will be used to house a lot of my artwork. Primarily, it will be used to display the challenge I am taking up as my New Year’s Resolution: Design Something Every Day, or the “Daily 365″ as proposed by Smashing Magazine.  So I should be updating daily in that case.

The kind of art I do is mostly done in Adobe Illustrator, but I also do web design, word press themes, and doodles. I also really enjoy using FlipNote from Hatena on my Nintendo DSi, so you may see some little animated bits as well.

Anyways, off to go put something in my About page since it is really empty. If you like what you see, sign up to my RSS feed and follow me! :)
